The Department of Medical and Biological Physics originated from Mathematics and Physics Teaching and Research Office at the founding of the university. In 2018, it was integrated into the School of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics. At present, the Department has a faculty of 10 members, including 2 associate professors (1 master supervisor), 6 lecturers, a senior experimentalist and an assistant experimentalist. The Department focuses on the teaching of medical physics and general physics. The Department has actively participated in the writing of national-level textbooks, undertaken projects of teaching research, and published series articles in domestic educational and teaching journals.

The faculty has guided students in various programs and competitions, including the College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program, College Students’ Physics Experiment Competition, and others. Additionally, the faculty is also actively engaged in scientific research, achieving fruitful results in recent years. They have undertaken 3 national research projects, including one supported by the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund. A series of research achievements have been obtained, with several academic papers published in internationally renowned journals.
